Time Is Of The Essence

The past year presented us with a bit of an anomaly; even though we were spending more (or in some cases all of our) time at home, we seemed to have less time than ever to prepare healthy, nutritious meals. Whether it was due to figuring out how to rebalance our work/home balance, seemingly endless Zoom meetings, or a reduced number of trips to the market, it was a whole lot easier to reach for convenience foods than to get our required daily dose of vegetables.

We love our products, but we came to love them even more during this unprecedented stretch of time. Not only were our Plant-based Protein Crumbles ever at the ready, they also allowed us to recreate all of our favorite ground-meat-based recipes in record time.

We just zipped open a bag, measured the crumbles, added half as much water, and waited five minutes, That's it, and we had a plant-based meat replacement ready to be turned into tacos, Bolognese sauce, sloppy Joes, and all the other foods we like and our kids would actually eat.

We even discovered a few extra tips to save us even more time and make our crumbles even more delicious:

  • TIP ONE: If you're using our crumbles in soups, stews or chilis, you don't have to rehydrate first. Just add a little extra water or stock to your pot (1/2 cup water for every cup of crumbles) and rehydrate while you cook.
  • TIP TWO: If you want to give your crumbles more umami flavor and a darker brown appearance, simply add a tablespoon or two of liquid aminos to the pan as you sauté.
  • TIP THREE:  If you have a little ground beef, turkey or pork in your refrigerator, but not enough to make a meal for your family, use Longève Plant-based Protein Crumbles to round out the recipe. Simply rehydrate per the package instructions and mix thoroughly with what ground meat you have.
